  • look at all the new name ideas on this page: HackerHiveWhatIsInAName and pick a new name
  • what new info do we have about non-profits (HackerHiveLegalStructure)
    • Jessica Rohloff will share her experience with non-profits and why she thinks we should NOT go the non-profit route
  • talk more about cooperative model.
    • ChrisKlarmann uploaded some documents to this wiki related to that. Ask him to talk about it some more?
    • WillKirchheimer (and maybe Jeff) from C4 will talk about their experience with the cooperative model. From their info page:
      • What is a co-op? Founded on the principle of a democratic workplace, C4 is worker owned and operated. A worker co-op is a business model in which the workers own and run the work environment. The workers become the shareholders, typically receiving equal shares. In general they are organized democratically, with each member receiving one vote.
      • more info about worker cooperatives: http://www.usworker.coop/aboutworkercoops
  • Talk about the field trip to Alabama hacker space (as discussed here: HackerHiveMakersLocalFieldTrip)
    • has anyone had contact with the maker's local that hasn't been documented on that page?
    • when would be a good time to take this trip?
    • Jessica Rohloff (who organized the Net2NO SXSW Road Trip) has volunteered to help organize this
    • As mentioned on the mailing list. I talked to Greg in Hunstville about this trip. He was excited and said he could help us plan it so it shouldn't be too hard to put together. One of us needs to go into his IRC channel and discuss it with him as soon as we get more deatails about the date and how many people are going. We should go as soon as possible though, I would shoot for one of the next 3 weekends. --BenjaminEckel
  • review our new tasks/todos/goals from the meeting
    • some probable todos:
      • register domain names (.com & .org) for our new group name
      • set up wiki.newname.org to point to this existing wiki
      • find all instances of HackerHive and replace with new name
      • simon will set up new mailing list and subscribe those already subscribed to the current mailing list
        • discuss desired privacy/lack of privacy for mailing list (anyone can subscribe? make archive public and therefore searchable via google? etc.)
      • simon will set up wordpress on new domain name, also twitter account, google apps, would be nice to have https for wordpress login, might be nice to have https login for wiki too, maybe put wiki on same domain (not subdomain) so as no to require two ssl certs (or get a wildcard ssl cert. thinking about trying out http://cert.startcom.org/ for the cert)
  • remind everyone that 7 of us are meeting at Z'otz to open our Arduino kits. Everyone is welcome to come and please bring soldering irons and solder. More info here: http://la2600.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=29
